The fundamental vision underlying the Nanotools facility is to discover, design, fabricate and understand new materials to drive frontier technologies through the manipulation of atoms, molecules and interfaces. This facility was funded in 2000 by the Canadian Foundation of Innovation, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Quebec Government, McGill University as well as industrial contributions. The official inauguration of the Nanotools facility was on November 10th, 2003. All the components of the Nanotools facility are accessible and open to interested academic and industrial users. The Nanotools facility is part of the core NanoQuebec infrastructure network.
